Boutique Enhancements at i {heart} skin: A Glossary & Guide

Hello all! I'm so excited to be back on the blog post-move and ready to talk about all that's available these days, when visiting my self-care sanctuary (aka facial boutique). Since starting my business two years ago, the options have expanded and I am now incorporating all of the advanced modalities I've studied, in addition to my traditional aesthetics practice. Read on and I'll tell you all about it!

If you've looked at my menu lately, you might have notice it looks a little difference. Over the next few months, I'll be blogging more in-depth about new options like facial reflexology, but today I'm just going to give you a general overview of all of the various Boutique Enhancements that you can now mix and match when booking a signature facial with me.

The Modalities:

Acupressure Facial Massage: A gentle pressure point massage to stimulate the skin and promote deep relaxation. Over time this touch therapy can combat signs of premature aging by developing muscle memory in the face.

Advanced Detoxifying Facial Massage with Manual Lymphatic Drainage: Manual Lymphathic Drainage incorporates gentle massage and manipulation of the neck, décolletage and face using the certified Vodder technique to detoxify the skin and decrease inflammation. This gentle, meditative facial massage treatment will leave you feeling rested and radiant.

Botanical Fruit Enzyme Peel w/ Optional Alpha-Hydroxy Boost: A more natural and non-invasive alternative to traditional chemical peels, these aromatic, fruit-infused enzyme peels exfoliate dead skin, while also boosting radiance. There is no downtime with these peels and they are customizable to treat a plethora of skin concerns - from brightening to tightening, hydration, acne and more. If you still desire a traditional chemical peel, one can be blended with the fruit enzyme for a “boosted” effect.

Celluma Panel LED Anti-Acne & Glow-Boosting Light Therapy: Low-level light therapy uses blue, red and near infrared wavelengths as a non-invasive way to treat the skin. Blue light kills p.acne bacteria, while red light stimulates cellular turnover and collagen production. The near infrared speeds up healing, making it a perfect enhancement to any facial treatment.

Chan'beauté Facial Reflexology & Facial Massage w/ Multi Reflex Tools: Dien Chan Facial Reflexology uses pressure points, face mapping, and the principles of yin + yang, to bring balance to the body and energy. This can translate to relief from pain and discomfort while also improving fine lines, premature aging, dullness, discoloration, dark circles, puffiness, and other common skin concerns.

Chemical Peels: I use progressive chemical exfoliation to treat acne, uneven pigment, dull skin, texture and scarring. Alpha-hydroxy acids (such as glycolic or lactic acid) and TCA, help digest the top layer of dead skin, promoting cellular turnover and allowing new healthy skin to surface. Please note that these peels work best when performed in a series.

Dermaplaning or Diamond Microdermabrasion Exfoliation: Both modes of manual resurfacing, dermaplaning uses a medical grade scalpel tool to remove dead surface skin and fine vellus hairs. Microdermabrasion uses a mechanical wand with crushed diamonds on the tip, to exfoliate and lightly suction, stimulating the skin.

Gua Sha Gemstone Sculpting Massage: A flat jade stone tool and other gemstone implements (rollers, spoons, combs, etc.) are used to lightly stroke or massage the face. This helps break up stagnation in the lymph, aids detoxification and creates a flow of nourishment to the face. The result is deep relaxation, hydration, sculpting and brightening.

Reiki Energy Balancing: Reiki, pronounced Ray ́-Key is a hands-on healing modality that quiets the mind and calms the emotions to experience an inner peace and calm within. This helps address the stress that is at the root of many skin concerns and issues.

Seasonal Beauty Ritual: Each season, enjoy a different face massage ritual and Limited Edition mask treatment. These themed beauty rituals are designed to support the skin’s ever-changing needs year-round, while also introducing you to some of my favorite facial modalities and seasonal ingredients.

Tips and Guidelines for customizing your Signature Boutique Facial

Now that we've talked about all of the options, how do you know what to choose? I get it. There are a lot of options. Keep in mind, you can always stick with the basic Signature treatment as I've designed it to cover all the basic elements of a traditional facial. Enhancements are always optional, but recommended as a way to treat yourself and allow me to further customize your facial.

You can choose up to two enhancements at each visit. Here are a few of my favorite pairings and what they are good for. Then I'll talk about recommendations based on skin type and concern.

[Dermaplaning + Gua Sha] - For smooth skin that is hydrated, dewy and event ready.

[Gua Sha + Advanced Detoxifying Facial Massage] - Sculpts, brightens and tightens the skin for a radiant, red-carpet glow.

[Any advanced exfoliation + LED] - When doing a peel, fruit enzyme, dermaplaning or microdermabrasion treatment, I love to add LED for its ability to boost healing and cellular turnover. The LED speeds up recovery time and leaves you glowing.

[LED + Advanced Detoxifying Facial Massage] - Blue Light Therapy reduces surface bacteria, while the massage helps reduce stagnant lymph and promotes detoxification from within. Great for acne and stress.

[Botanical Fruit Enzyme Peel + LED] Great for a non-invasive exfoliating and rejuvenating treatment, that will leave you radiant.

[Botanical Fruit Enzyme Peel + Gua Sha] Great for firming, sculpting and rejuvenating dull skin.

[Advanced Detoxifying Facial Massage + Facial Reflexology] A completely holistic approach to treating stress, the skin and other imbalances in the body

[Reiki + Botanical Fruit Enzyme Peel] The enzyme peel creates outer glow, while Reiki works to bring out the inner glow, in beautiful synergy.

[Gua Sha + Reiki] The most relaxing combination there is.

[Reiki + Facial Reflexology] For complete body balance and wellness.
